Hiking in Aspliden

There are many opportunities for hiking in Aspliden—welcome to discover, explore, and enjoy!

Aspliden is a village with a long history, located close to the former mining community of Kristineberg.

The area is vibrant and alive, with horses, sheep, and chickens, and offers inviting opportunities for an active outdoor life. During the summer, you can hike along the lit trail (elljusspåret) or up to Asphyddan, located on Hornberget, where you are rewarded with a fantastic view. The hike can be extended further up the mountain, then continue along the path beneath the old cableway down to Linbanevägen and back into the village.

There is also a pleasant hiking route, Vinmyrvägen, which leads to an old summer barn/cabin located on a hay meadow. All of these trails are also suitable for cross-country skiing in winter, and parts of them are shared snowmobile trails. During winter, a longer track is prepared for dog sledding and skiing.

Other things to see and do in Aspliden

By Lake Holmtjärn, there is a roadside rest area where you can take a break, enjoy a picnic, and go fishing (a fishing permit is required). On the opposite side of the lake, there is a rest cabin accessible during winter.

In the center of the village, there is another rest cabin with a fireplace, and in winter a large nearby hill is prepared for sledding and skiing. The village community hall, Aspligården, is centrally located and can be rented for meetings, celebrations, and other events. It is well equipped with tables, chairs, glassware, crockery, pots, serving dishes, and more, suitable for up to 60 people. Facilities include two large fridge/freezers, a commercial dishwasher, stove with oven, microwave, WC with shower, and an additional WC. A sauna is also available for rent, but guests provide their own firewood.

In winter, an ice rink is also maintained and flooded by parents who wish to skate with their children.
