Fäbodstigen Trail

An easy, child-friendly hiking trail that takes you back to Malå’s historical mountain pasture sites.

The Fäbodstigen trail is approximately 4 km long and suitable for both children and adults. The path leads to a historic mountain pasture site believed to date back to the turn of the 18th–19th century. Information boards are placed at the parking area, along the trail, and at the site itself, with all individual remains clearly marked.

The trail continues via Kolvdammen, where there is a wind shelter, barbecue area, and outdoor toilets – perfect for a break or picnic in nature. The path mostly traverses heathland with a few boardwalk sections, offering varied yet easy terrain.

Directions: Drive along road 370 from Malå eastward towards Rökå, then continue towards Vormsele. After 6.5 km (100 m before Kolvbäcksbron), turn left towards the mountain pasture site. Drive 500 m to the parking area, where information about the site is available. Follow the blue markings for about 100 m along the road, then turn left into the forest and follow the trail.
